Grip6 Belt Review: 4 Years of Wearing the Pants

I’ve been using a Grip6 belt for four years. Enough time has gone by for me to give my honest opinion and thorough review.

There are several different types of belts available from Grip6, but they are all based on the same basic functional parts with different style options to choose from. At the time of my order there were different options and styles, but I went simple anyway. I chose a gray strap and two buckles, a silver and an orange. The gray/orange combo is now called Foxtail.

After over 4 years of use, here are my thoughts about Grip6 Belts.

Why get a Grip6 belt in the first place

When I first saw the advertisements for Grip6 belts, I was impressed by several things. The first was the strength. Showing a grown man swinging from a tree by the belt around his waist, with no fear of it breaking, had me intrigued. If a belt is that strong, I’m guessing it won’t stretch and deform into uncomfortable shapes.

For demonstration purposes only. Do not attempt. Grip6 belts are THAT strong.

Made in the USA!

I love the fact that Grip6 belts are made right here in the USA, so they are supporting the families who will use the products by making their products “with materials and labor sourced exclusively in North America.

Grip6 Belt General Use

Strong & Durable

I’ve been using the same belt for 4 years with no issues at all. It hasn’t stretched or deformed in any way, unlike leather belts I have which take on a strange shape and wear out. I wear same belt for everything: hiking, snowboarding, work, and it still looks good enough to wear to church. Truly amazing quality and durability. But, if for some reason I ever do wear it out, they’ll replace it for free, plus shipping. They have a lifetime warranty, or what they call the ‘A3 Guarandamntee‘. Any time, any reason, any condition that a Grip6 belt fails, and they’ll send you a new one for just the cost of shipping. Note that this warranty explicitly excludes misuse, loss and theft.

Fully Adjustable

Do you struggle getting just the right fit with your belts? With a Grip6 belt you can micro adjust to your hearts content. The strap doesn’t have a ‘memory’ so if you wear the belt all day and then eat a big dinner, you can let it out a little bit and it won’t slip back to the previous position. Going backpacking and need it really tight? Can do. If you happen to get a strap that is just far too long, you can shorten it yourself with their easy instructions. I have not tried this myself, but I see no reason why it wouldn’t work.

There are many times when a belt buckle is just in the way. It is too broad, too tall, or too thick and causes problems. Grip6 belts are thin and curved just enough to be comfortable. The main thing I like about this is that I can wear the belt and wear a backpack waist strap over it and not even notice it is there. Super comfortable! Not to mention that the webbing is very light weight, as well as the aluminum buckle.

Customizable Style

Sometimes it is nice to have a fashion accent and other times you just need to hold your pants up without standing out. Grip6 belts are great for this. I have a gray strap and two buckles, a silver and an orange. Any time I want to look like I’m having fun I wear the orange. If I need to dial it back, I just slip off the orange and slip on the silver buckle in a few seconds. Just not that you’ll need the strap width and buckle size to be the same as they do make more than one width.

Since these are modular you can grow your style choices over time and as new styles are released. With the many strap and buck choices out there you’ll easily be able to compliment just about any style.

Grp6 Belt Best Uses

So, what types of uses are Grip6 belts good for, anyway? Absolutely anything! I have yet to find a scenario where I said to myself that I wished I had worn a different belt. Actually, I never even know I have it on. Although I will admit that for any project I need to do that might ruin it, such as painting, I change to one of the old leather belts. Maybe I should stop doing that.

Grip6 Belt 4 Year Durability Test

Strap

During the 4 years I have owned this belt there have been no issues at all with it. I had been concerned about chafing and fraying the strap because of the way it pinches the strap in to hold tight. However, those concerns have not grown into a reality. While there is the smallest amount of chafing visible, it is only cosmetic at this point. The only place that shows any signs of wear like is in fact where the buckle tension occurs. The rest of the strap looks like new. It has ‘deformed’ slightly into a bit of a rainbow shape. This in no way affects the use of the belt and is probably a good thing as it matches the contour of my body. All of my belts take on this shape.

The strap size was very easy to get correcting using the simple Grip6 sizing chart, which made it worry-free. I bought a size 32 to match my pants waist size and it is a perfect fit. It leaves about 8-10″ of extra strap when it is buckled, so you’ll have plenty of extra length to get it started, and maybe some extra length in case of bulky clothes or weight gain.

Buckle

The buckle has fared very well over 4 years of use. As previously mentioned, I bought two colors of buckle: orange and silver. The silver one has seen very little use so it is the orange one I’ll focus on. The buckle has not bent or warped in any way at all. It has proven to be exceptionally rigid and strong. The color treatment is also extremely durable. There is a little bit of it that has chipped off and that is mostly due to dropping it on tile or concrete floors. Perhaps some is due to rubbing or abrasion but very little.

Dirtiness & Cleanability

Dirtiness of a Grip 6 belt is a non-issue. I’ve never cleaned mine one time and there is no sign of dirtiness at all. If you did need to clean one it would be a simple process of rinsing in a mild detergent solution as these straps do not seem to attract dirt or grime at all.

Grp6 Belt: Promise vs Payoff

Grip6 belts promised several main things: USA made, strength, durability and style. I personally think that they have delivered each of these as promised. And for $35 you really can’t go wrong here. Promises and expectations met.

Is a Grip6 Belt a Recommended Purchase?

Grip 6 belts are a very different type of apparel, and I can fully understand why anyone would be hesitant to try it out. But after 4 years of use I can confidently say that it is a belt and there is nothing to be worried about. They are durable, strong and stylish. So, do I recommend you get one? Yes, absolutely.

I like to buy things directly from the manufacturer whenever possible. This cuts out the middleman and they earn more from my business. This works particularly well with items made in the USA like Grip6.

Or you can get one on Amazon.
